MG ZS EV Update: 2023 MG ZS EV facelift revealed, due in Australia in late 2022. the current ZS EV is offered solely with a 44.5kWh battery delivering 263km of range (according to European WLTP protocols), the updated ZS EV can be had with a choice of 51kWh Standard Range and 72kWh Long Range batteries, offering up to 440km of WLTP range – an increase of 67 per cent! Upgraded DC fast-charging – at a rate of up to 76kW in UK models, up from 50kW – allows a zero to 100 per cent charge in approximately 42 minutes for the Long Range model. It’s still stuck on the 7Kwh AC onboard charger however…
Skoda Enyaq: Skoda has unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the Skoda Enyaq iV, with the new model offering the choice of three different battery sizes, quick charging capabilities and a claimed range of up to 510km. Bad sadly there are no local plans to bring the Enyaq out to Australia…
Tesla Model Y: It appears plans to launch the electric SUV this year have fallen through… One theory suggests a deal with US rental giant Hertz in late October to sell 100,000 Model 3 sedans put the brakes on local deliveries, as the two models share approximately 75 per cent of their components.
Toyota BZ: The BZ4X debuts a new dedicated battery-electric platform co-developed with Subaru, and competes in the hotly-contested mid-size SUV segment as a rival for vehicles such as the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Volkswagen ID.4, Nissan Ariya and the Toyota’s twin, the Subaru Solterra. One battery pack will be available at launch, a 71.4kWh lithium-ion unit good for up to 500km of range. A solar roof can be optioned in certain markets, claimed to “generate electricity equivalent to 1800km of driving distance per year”, with the roof capable of adding range even when the vehicle is switched off. Due in showrooms late 2022.
